Ramón López de Osornio
Ramón López de Osornio was a Spanish landowner, who served as Captain of provincial militias of Buenos Aires.Biography
Ramón López de Osornio was born on August 31, 1685, in Buenos Aires, the second son of Francisco López Osornio and Tomasa Merlo, belonging to a family of landowners. He was married to Margarita Sosa, daughter of a family of landowners probably from Asunción. In 1715 was born his first daughter, Paula López de Osornio y Sosa, who was baptized on June 4 of the same year in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires.
Ramón Lopez Osornio inherited from his parents some hectares of land and had his ranch in the town of Magdalena. He was a Captain of militia in the Presidio de Buenos Aires, serving in the suburban areas of the Province of Buenos Aires.
He was the uncle of Clemente López de Osornio and uncle in law and godfather of Casimiro Alegre, a known commander of the town of La Matanza.
