Purvanchal Expressway


The Purvanchal Expressway is an under construction 6-lane access controlled expressway in India's Uttar Pradesh state. The expressway will connect Ghazipur town with the state capital, Lucknow. It is being developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority with a project cost of ₹22,494 crore.
The project will be executed by Gayatri Projects, Apco Infratech, G R Infraprojects, PNC Infratech and Oriental Structural Engineers. The total project has been divided in 8 packages, with Gayatri Projects, G R Infraprojects and PNC Infratech allotted 2 packages each and Apco Infratech & Oriental Structural Engineers being awarded one package each. The easy bidding process has also resulted in 10% cost reduction for the project.
It will be about 340.824 km long expressway and will connect Lucknow to Ghazipur by passing through 09 districts: Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and will terminate in Ghazipur. The expressway is to be linked with Varanasi-Gorakhpur highway through a separate link road.

History

The project is to pass through Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur to reach Ballia.
