Anuradha Pal is a Tabla virtuoso, multi-percussionist and music composer who has been described as the "first professional female tabla player in the world" by Encyclopedia Britannica and the Limca Book of Records.
A disciple of Ustad Alla Rakha and Zakir Hussain, she performed at the Woodstock Festival in 2008 with her World music band, Anuradha Pal's Recharge for an audience of 400,000 people.
She has performed on All India Radio and serves on the panel of Indian Council for Cultural Relations. In 2017, she performed for over 1 lakh villagers in Balgram, Talluka Jath, Sangli, Maharashtra as Brand Ambassador of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana.
Early life
Anuradha Pal was born in Mumbai to pharmaceutical doyen, Devinder Pal and painter-writer Ila Pal. She initiated her tabla training under Shri Manikrao Popatkar and Pt. Madan Mishra, both of the Benares Gharana and finally became a Ganda Bandhan shagird of Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain of the Punjab Gharana.She started performing professionally from the age of 10.5 years, with her work described as incredible Tayyari, Layakari and immaculate presentation and was described as the Lady Zakir Hussain by Maharashtra Times, when she was seventeen.

She has accompanied musicians such as Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Smt. Girija Devi, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Sultan Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt; young maestros like Rakesh Chaurasia, Rahul Sharma, Sabir Khan & Niladri Kumar, as well as Jazz, Latin, Western Classical, Flamenco, Folk and African musicians.She has performed for then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Sushma Swaraj, Maneka Gandhi, Smriti Irani & Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and others.
She composed the background score for M.F. Husain’s film Gaja Gamini. She has also composed music for short films, documentaries, theatre and other commissioned work and events.
She has conducted Lecture Demonstrations and workshops at Harvard University, Berklee College of Music, M.I.T, Vienna Boys Choir, Palazzo Ducale, MilapFest, Monash University, IIT Mumbai, TEDxBITS Pilani, to name a few. She was invited as an artist-in-residence by the New England Conservatory of Music in 2006.
She collaborated with NDR Bigband from Germany at the India Week Hamburg 2017. Here, the orchestra presented three of her compositions.
She contributed in the research for the books 'Relationship between Brain, Music & Language' at Neurosciences University, San Diego and 'Study of Tabla, Aesthetics & Complexities' at the Harvard Science Centre.
She represented India at the Asian Performer's Summit in Japan in 1999.

- Anuradha Pal's Stree Shakti - The first all-female Indian Classical Music band formed by Anuradha Pal in 1996, reflecting the emergence of woman power in the traditionally male dominated field of Indian rhythm. The band features a unique combination of Hindustani with Carnatic music, melody with rhythm and the traditional with contemporary. They have enthralled audiences at some of the biggest music festivals in the world and also toured with the Pan-African Orchestra from Ghana for a concert tour of UK and Ireland in 2002.
