Anastasia Nazarenko


Anastasia Konstantinovna Nazarenko is a Russian group rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2012 Olympics Group All-around champion, the 2011 World Group All-around silver medalist, two-time Group All-around bronze medalist, 2010 European Group All-around champion and two-time World Cup Final Group All-around champion. Since 2017, Nazarenko has been an instructor pf rhythmic gymnastics at MatchPoint NYC in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. In June 2019, she opened stretching studio in NYC .

Career

Nazarenko competed in two World Championships. She was misdiagnosed with a foot injury that kept her from competing in the early part of the 2012 season. She returned to competition after the 2012 European Championships replacing Group alternate Olga Ilina. She was part of the golden-winning Russian Group at the 2012 World Cup Final in Minsk.
Nazarenko won a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the group all-around event together with other group members. For six months leading up to the Olympic Games, the Russian gymnasts only ate buckwheat in their diet.
Nazarenko and the rest of the Russian Group returned to competition at the 2013 Moscow Grand Prix where they won the all-around, at the Thiais Grand Prix they also won the all-around gold medal as well as in the event finals. They competed at their first World Cup competition of the season in Lisboa, Portugal where they won bronze in all-around and won the gold medal in 10 clubs and 2 ribbons/3 balls final. At the Sofia World Cup they won the silver medal in all-around and gold in 2 ribbons/3 balls final. At the Minsk World Cup they won gold in all-around, silver in 2 ribbons/3 balls and bronze in 10 clubs. Nazarenko and the rest Russian Group won all the gold medals at the 2013 Summer Universiade in All-around, 10 clubs and 2 ribbons/3 balls. The Russian Group won the gold medals in Group All-around, 10 clubs and 2 ribbons/3 balls at the 2013 World Cup Final in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Nazarenko and her Russian teammates won the Group All-around bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships, they won gold in 2 Ribbon + 3 Balls final. Nazarenko completed her career after the 2013 World Championships.

Personal life

Nazarenko studied at the Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education in St. Petersburg, Russia.
