Zaza Formation
The Zaza Formation is a geological formation located in Buryatia. It dates to the Lower Cretaceous period. It is Aptian in age and predominantly consists of lithified marl and carbonaceous siltstone that was deposited in a 20 to 30 metre deep well oxygenated intermontane lake situated on a granite massif. It is known for its numerous fossils of many varieties of insect.
