Young's Ferry (Merced River)
Young's Ferry was a historical ferry crossing of the Merced River, located in present-day Merced County, California.History
Young's Ferry was one of the three main crossings of the Merced River on the San Joaquin Valley section of the 19th century Stockton - Los Angeles Road.
The three crossings were located within downstream of the river's rapids named Merced Falls. Closest downstream from the rapids was Phillips' Ferry; then Belt's Ferry − later Murray's Ferry and the present day town of Merced Falls; and then Young's Ferry, which was downstream from Belt's Ferry/town of Merced Falls.
A sign was posted on the Stockton - Los Angeles Road along the river from Snelling to the rapids of Merced Falls, which read "T. W. T. Young's Ferry. Nearest and Best Road to All Parts of the Mines South of the River Merced."
