Yadlapati Venkata Rao is an Indian politician, he served as MP for Rajyasabha and ex-minister of united Andhra Pradesh. He turned 100 in December 2019.Early life and education
Yadlapati Venkat Rao was born in Bodapadu village of Amruthalur mandal near Tenali. He studied at Andhra Christian College, Guntur and Post-graduated in law from Chennai. He began his career as an advocate in Tenali and later entered politics.Political career
Yadlapati Venkat Rao started his political career as MLA to United Andhra Pradesh assembly by getting elected from Vemuru constituency, Guntur district, Andhra pradesh. He was elected three times to Assembly from the same constituency in 1967, 1972 as a candidate from Swatantra party. In 1978 he won as an INC candidate. He lost once in the 1989 general election.
Venkata Rao was elected Guntur Zilla Parishad Chairman before he was nominated to Rajya Sabha in 1998. He was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by N. Chandrababu Naidu during his chief minister tenure, in which position he continued till 2004. Recently, he has celebrated his centenary birthday celebrations, which was felicitated by Chief Minister Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
