Xie Zhenhua (politician)


Xie Zhenhua is a Chinese politician who served as vice-chairman of China's top economic development body, the National Development and Reform Commission.

Biography

Xie Zhenhua was born in Tianjin. He graduated from Tsinghua University with an Engineering Physics degree. He served as vice chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission from 2007 to 2015.
Xie was appointed head of the State Environmental Protection Administration in 1998, but was forced to resign after the 2005 Jilin chemical plant explosions.
He was the lead negotiator for China at three United Nations Climate Change Conferences: Copenhagen, Denmark in 2009, and Cancun, Mexico in 2010, and Durban, South Africa in 2012.
