WYDC
WYDC, virtual channel 48 and UHF digital channel 30, is a Fox-affiliated television station licensed to Corning, New York, United States, serving the Twin Tiers of Southern Upstate New York and Northern Pennsylvania. Owned by Vision Communications, it is a sister station to low-powered MyNetworkTV affiliate WJKP-LD. The two outlets share studios on East Market Street in Downtown Corning; WYDC's transmitter is located on Higman Hill. On cable, the station is available on Spectrum channel 13 in both standard and high definition.
History
A construction permit for WYDC was given in 1993 to an engineer and his wife, and the station signed on as an independent station the following year under the branding Big TV. The station later joined the United Paramount Network in 1995. Vision Communications bought the station in 1997, upgraded its facilities, and signed an affiliation deal with Fox; prior to WYDC's affiliation with Fox, the network's programming was only available to cable and satellite viewers in the Elmira market via the Foxnet service. UPN programming still ran as a secondary affiliation for a few years.Digital television
