Vallikunnam


Vallikunnam is a village in Mavelikara taluk of Alappuzha district in the Indian state of Kerala.
It is the southernmost place in Alappuzha, bordering Oachira and Thazhava of Kollam districts. It is an area of paddy and sesame fields, rubber and tapioca cultivation. Due to abundance of clay, this area has manymud bricks factories. It has many higher secondary schools, a public health center, panchayat and village offices, temples and mosques. A.G.R.M Higher Secondary School, K.K.M. Govt. V.H.S.S, Elippakulam are two of the famous schools. Padayanivettom temple is a landmark. Durga and Bhadra are the goddesses of the temple. Edayasseril Bhadrakali Maha Kshetram partly located in Vallikunnam and Bharanikkavu panchayath. Another famous temple is the Vattackad Temple. Choonad town musjid, Kanjippuzha Valya Palli are famous mosques in Vallikunnam. village is situated en route Mavelikkara–Karunagappally road and Oachira– Thamarakkulam road. Manackad is the administrative center and Choonad and Kambisseri are the main commercial centers. The major centers in Vallikunnam are Choonad, Manackad, Vattackad, Kambisseri, Elippakkulam. It is connected to Kayamkulam, Mavelikkara, Karunagappally, Adoor, sasthamkotta and other nearby towns.
