Uttrang Kaur Khalsa


Uttrang Kaur Khalsa, also known earlier as Ally Aitken, is a British citizen and an environmental campaigner, model, actress, artist and socialite. She is a qualified yoga teacher and translates Sikh and Hindu scriptures. She is also the daughter of former British government Cabinet minister Jonathan Aitken, the great grand-daughter of John Maffey,1st Baron Rugby, and the great-great niece of newspaper magnate and war-time minister Max Aitken, 1st Baron Beaverbrook.
Upon Aitken's birth in Lausanne, US President Richard Nixon sent flowers to her mother Lolitza. His security team and the Swiss police used the delivery to practice the emergency protocol for escorting an injured Head of State to the hospital, closing roads for the delivery. In 2010, she became a Sikh. Her primary reason for becoming Sikh, she was quoted saying: 'It is the only worship where I have seen Jains, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians together. The poetry of Sikhism shares words with Muslims and Hindus in praise.' After becoming a Sikh, Aitken adopted the name of Uttrang Kaur Khalsa as part of her religion. Khalsa translates as 'pure'.
As a writer, Aitken has had articles published in The Times, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail and Tatler. As a musician, she plays the harp and has played in the world air guitar championships.

Early life

Alexandra Aitken was born on 14 June 1980. She is the daughter of former Conservative Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom and former British government Cabinet minister Jonathan Aitken and his first wife Lolicia Aitken. She has a twin sister Victoria, a brother William, and a half-sister Petrina Khashoggi. Alexandra attended The King's School, Canterbury, where she acted as a server and school sacresten in Canterbury Cathedral, carrying altar candles. She graduated in fine arts. and won the school art prize. She had a well-educated upbringing, attending The Hampshire School in England and also a school in France which is a ballet school. She danced and sang in the musicals Oliver!, Annie and Oklahoma!. Her family were well-known political hosts, frequently hosting prayer breakfasts and political think-tank parties at their home in London. In 2002, Aitken posed for GQ magazine, along with her half-sister Khashoggi. In 2004, she appeared in the movie Enduring Love.. She has lived in Hollywood and Anandpur Sahib where Guru Ki Langer is served at all times. She currently lives near Canterbury, the famous medieval pilgrims destination.
