Universal Beijing Resort


The Universal Beijing Resort, commonly known as Universal Beijing, is an upcoming Chinese theme park and entertainment resort complex based in Beijing. The resort is operated by Universal Parks & Resorts. It is owned by NBCUniversal, a division of Comcast, and Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment.
Once completed, Universal Beijing Resort will consist of two theme parks, a water park, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex, and six hotels.

History

In February 2009, Shanghai Securities News reported that Universal Studios was close to winning approval from China's government to build a theme park in Beijing. Construction of Universal Beijing Resort began in October 2016.

Theme parks and main areas

Universal Studios Beijing

will be the resort's flagship park and will open as part of phase one.
According to the official website of the resort, there will be seven themed areas:
A later phase of Universal Beijing Resort includes plans for a second theme park which has not started to be built yet. The theme park will be located adjacent to Universal Studios Beijing.

Universal CityWalk Beijing

Universal CityWalk will act as the gateway to Universal Beijing's theme parks. The entertainment, dining and retail complex will include stores and restaurants and will be located between the parking and transit station and the theme park and waterpark entrances. CityWalk will open as part of the resort's first phase. A variety of shops, dining, and entertainment is slated to be included in the complex, including:

Resorts

The first phase of Universal Beijing Resort will feature two official on-site hotels which will be located in close proximity to the Universal Beijing theme parks.

Transportation

Currently a new station for the Beijing Subway is being constructed at the entrance to Universal Beijing Resort near CityWalk. The subway station will be a part of Batong line's south extension and Line 7's east extension.
