near-passerine

eastern
Colombia
and
Venezuela
. The puffbird has an
off-white
throat
,
buff
underparts
, and two
dark brown
chest
bands
. This
species
and the
russet-throated puffbird
were previously considered
conspecific
. In fact, some
taxonomic authorities
(including the
American Ornithological Society
still
consider
it so.
