Tracy Kraft-Tharp


Tracy Kraft-Tharp is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Colorado House of Representatives representing District 29 since January 9, 2013. Kraft-Tharp is a member of the League of Women Voters.

Biography

Kraft-Tharp represents House District 29, which includes northeastern Arvada and part of Westminster. She was elected in the 2012 election.
In the 2014 session, Kraft-Tharp supported legislation to extend the job growth incentive tax credit to attract new businesses to the state. She also passed legislation to extend the ReHire Colorado program through 2017. The program provides job coaching and training to unemployed and underemployed Coloradans. She also sponsored legislation creating a suicide prevention task force to reduce the rate of suicide in Colorado.
During the 2013 legislative session she sponsored the Advanced Industries Export Acceleration Act, which assists Colorado companies looking to export their products globally.
Kraft-Tharp started her career as a middle school teacher, later becoming a youth counselor and social worker. She became the manager of the Women in Crisis battered women's shelter in Jefferson County and now has her own small consulting business.
She has served on a number of boards including the City of Arvada Citizens Improvement Project Committee, the Urban Peak Housing Corporation and the Jefferson County School District Strategic Planning and Advisory Council.
Kraft-Tharp received her law degree and a masters in social work from the University of Denver.
