Tory Baucum
Tory K. Baucum is a former American Anglican priest. He is married to Elizabeth Tyndall Baucum and they have three daughters. In January 2020 he was appointed as the founding Director of the Benedictine Center for Family Life at Benedictine College, an apostolate of Benedictine Abbey.
Baucum attended the Trinity School for Ministry, in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, where he received his MA in 1986 and his Master of Divinity in 1988. He was an Associate Professor at Asbury Theological Seminary, in Wilmore, Kentucky. He also received a PhD in intercultural theology while there.
He was appointed in January 2014 by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, as one of the Six Preachers of Canterbury Cathedral. He completed that five-year term on March 14, 2019. Archbishop Justin stated upon his appointment that he was expecting that it would help promote "reconciliation and unity" in the Anglican Communion.
Baucum served as Rector of in Fairfax, Virginia from 2007 to 2019. After being placed on a leave absence by the Vestry of Truro in light of his angry and abusive behavior towards the staff and congregation, Tory announced his resignation as rector, renunciation of his Anglican ordination, and plans to convert to Roman Catholicism.
Dr. Baucum has written one book "Evangelical Hospitality" and numerous essays.
