Ton van den Heuvel


Ton van den Heuvel was a Dutch make-up artist.
After WWII he started working with make-up company Michels in Amsterdam. He was involved with the first in 1946. For years he would do the make-up of the national sinterklaasintocht on television and also in Amsterdam ]. From 1958 he started working for himself. In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s he did the make-up for the artists of popular children's series such as Pipo de Clown, and. It was Van den Heuvel who designed the face of Pipo the Clown, including the sun on his cheek.
Van den Heuvel was involved in many musicals as a make-up artist and often worked with Jos Brink. Van den Heuvel also did the make-up for commercials in the Netherlands and abroad.
Van den Heuvel continued working until he was ninety. The last part of his life was in a nursing home in Purmerend. His death was announced on 19 April 2020. He died due to COVID-19, aged 94. His funeral was on 21 April 2020.
