   Characters

• The Pirate Captain is the protagonist of the series. He is arrogant, naïve and mostly incompetent as a pirate and as a sea captain, but he's ultimately well-meaning and very much respected by his crew. He doesn't appear to possess any of the stereotypical pirate accoutrements, though he dresses in the traditional manner, and much is made of his luxuriant beard. He is said to have a "pleasant, open face", though he is quite successful at terrifying non-pirates.
• The Pirate with a Scarf, the Pirate Captain's closest best friend who is trustworthy, logical, and he has a nice scarf.
• Queen Victoria is the antagonist of the series. She is a mean, evil and violent monarch of London who is angry and is a bad-tempered spoiled brat and she hates pirates, rules London badly, throws tantrums and plans to kill them. In the end, she gets fried and burned up into the fiery pit of hot lava.
• Charles Darwin is a friendly naturalist who is the helper of the crew.
