The Amazing Race 32

The Amazing Race 32 is the upcoming thirty-second installment of the American reality television show The Amazing Race. It will feature eleven teams of two in a race around the world for a US$1 million grand prize. The season is set to premiere in fall 2020 in CBS's Wednesday 8:00 p.m. time slot.

Production and filming

Development

In January 2018, Phil Keoghan suggested that the show could return to filming two seasons a year after two years of only filming one. The Amazing Race 32 began on November 10, 2018 with filming of first leg of the Race reported on the island of Tobago, where teams went fishing in the Nylon Pool, played the steelpan at Pigeon Point, and participated in goat racing at the Buccoo Integrated Facility, and concluded on December 3, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana, which had previously only hosted a Pit Stop during the Family Edition. This season marks the first time The Amazing Race visited Trinidad and Tobago.
Filming occurred prior to the official renewal announcement of the show with CBS announcing on May 15, 2019, while Season 31 was airing, that the season would be broadcast in the mid-2019–20 television season. In January 2020, Amazing Race co-creators and executive producers Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri believed that the season would air within six months. On April 13, CBS announced that the season was to premiere with a two-hour special on May 20, 2020, taking over the Wednesday slot of . Following this, the show would have returned to the standard one-hour episode format. However, on April 29, CBS announced it was postponing the premiere until later in 2020, and the freshman game show Game On! would be taking show's former scheduled slot. The delay was designed in case the 2020–21 television season was unable to start as planned, as television production was suspended following the COVID-19 pandemic by March 2020 and new shows for the season had not been filmed, so this season could be slotted to replace any number of shows whose production has not begun for the season as a result of the pandemic, including Survivor, which was unable to film their seasons in time for the fall broadcast due to ongoing complications from the pandemic, with CBS subsequently scheduling The Amazing Race 32 in Survivor planned slot on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. as its replacement. At almost two years, The Amazing Race 32 has the longest gap between its filming completion and its premiere.
Unlike the past four seasons, which had casting themes involving social media personalities, strangers, 'champions' of their specific fields, and former reality show contestants, host Phil Keoghan referred to this season as taking a "back to basics" approach in an interview with Gold Derby with the cast and the show going back to the core elements of the Race.

Casting

Casting finals occurred during the end of July 2018 for filming set to occur around November 2018.
