TRI Pointe Group Inc. designs, constructs, and sells single-family detached and attached homes in the United States. It operates six brands across ten different states and is headquartered in Irvine, California. The company also provides mortgage financing, title, and property and casualty insurance services.
History
Doug Bauer, Tom Mitchell, and Mike Grubbs founded TRI Pointe Homes in 2009. The company partnered with Starwood Capital in its initial stages. In January 2013, TRI Pointe Homes went public – the first home building company to do so since 2004.TRI Pointe provides its builders with resources through programs such as LivingSmart, which focuses on sustainability and environmental impact, and HomeSmart, which focuses on in-home technology. For example, using the HomeSmart program, Quadrant Homes – one of the group's subsidiaries – offers Internet-enabled doorbell cameras, thermostats, and Amazon Alexa-enabled devices for voice control capability of the products.
In October, 2018, TRI Pointe announced a new division in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina. Gray Shell will be operating as division president in both Raleigh and Charlotte until the first homes in the area close in 2020.

Winchester Homes
The company offers single family and townhome communities in Anne Arundel, Montgomery, and Frederick counties in Maryland; Prince William, Loudoun counties in Northern Virginia.
As of 2018, Winchester had built over 20,000 homes in the mid-Atlantic region. Winchester builds different resources into its homes, using programs such as HomeSmart technology. HomeSmart provides a variety of home automation features.
Each home is designed and built using the company's LivingSmart program. The program focuses on creating healthier, more comfortable environments and includes five components: EarthSmart, HealthSmart, EnergySmart, WaterSmart and HomeSmart.
In 2018, TRI Pointe named Bradley W. Blank as the president of Winchester Homes. Blank previously served as TRI Pointe Group's vice president, general counsel and secretary.
Quadrant Homes
Quadrant is a member of TRI Pointe Group, Inc. The home building company is based in Bellevue, Washington and was founded in 1969.Quadrant Homes was initially a subsidiary of Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company. In 2014, WRECO merged with TRI Pointe Group, Inc. Quadrant Homes is now one of six homebuilding brands operating under TRI Pointe Group.
In 2015, Quadrant became one of the first two builders in the nation to offer mortgage services through TRI Pointe Connect, is a joint venture between imortgage and TRI Pointe Group.
Quadrant Homes offers home buyers sustainable designs and builds through its LivingSmart program. The program has five components, one of which is the automation-focused HomeSmart.
In 2018, Quadrant teamed up with Amazon to expand its HomeSmart™ technology offerings. Quadrant added Amazon's Alexa to its program, offering homebuyers resources such as Echo Show, Echo Dot and Echo Spot. The HomeSmart package already offered Ring Pro doorbells, Nest 3 Thermostats, Caseta Lighting Controls and other in-home technology devices.
Maracay Homes
Maracay is a subsidiary member of TRI Pointe Group, Inc. The company constructs single-family homes in Arizona. It was founded in 1991 and is based in Scottsdale, Arizona.Maracay was initially part of the Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company. In 2014, TRI Pointe Homes, Inc. merged with WRECO. Maracay, and the other four WRECO homebuilding companies, became part of the newly renamed TRI Pointe Group.
In 2018, Maracay announced its new logo and branding. As part of the rebranding, its name was shortened from Maracay Homes to simply Maracay.
The company has constructed over 8,000 homes across Phoenix and Tucson. Maracay uses programs like Flex! Design and LivingSmart to give homebuyers the ability to tailor homes to reflect personal lifestyles, and live in green houses. Maracay first certified its homes under the Energy Star guidelines, and, as of 2017, follows LEED certification requirements.
Maracay focuses on features such as water and energy efficiency, as well as automation.
In June 2017, Maracay closed on a $12.42 million land purchase in Gilbert, Arizona. The purchase tripled the company's size and closing volume over the previous five years.
Trendmaker Homes
Trendmaker Homes is a member of the TRI Pointe Group, Inc. The homebuilding company is based in Houston, Texas, and was founded in 1971. The company builds luxury homes, traditional family homes, and villa patio homes.History
Trendmaker was initially part of the Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company. In 2014, Weyerhaeuser merged with TRI Pointe Homes. Trendmaker, and four other homebuilding brands, became part of the newly named TRI Pointe Group, Inc. Trendmaker builds more than 500 homes a year, making it one of the largest Houston-based homebuilding companies.In 2015, the company made its debut in Austin, Texas, building homes for the Belterra community in southwest Austin. In 2016, Trendmaker announced a second acquisition in Austin.
In 2017, Trendmaker had 351 homes under construction when Hurricane Harvey hit. Only one of the homes experienced flooding, but thirty-seven experienced minimal water intrusion. TRI Pointe created “The Trendmaker Hurricane Harvey Assistance Fund” to assist Trendmaker employees impacted by the hurricane. TRI Pointe matched every employee dollar donated through September 30, 2017.
In 2018, Trendmaker donated funds to help create the nonprofit BuildAidHouston.org, which provides Houston homeowners with repairs following the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey.
Trendmaker builders use resources like the LivingSmart program to ensure every home is designed for energy efficiency. The homes are independently certified and often exceed local energy codes.
TRI Pointe Homes
TRI Pointe Homes is a member of TRI Pointe Group, Inc. The homebuilding company operates in California, Colorado and North Carolina. It was founded in 2009. The North Carolina division will operate initially in Charlotte and Raleigh. Gray Shell, former division president of Taylor Morrison Home Corp., was named the first hire for the North Carolina division.History
