Stratford-upon-Avon Guildhall
Stratford-upon-Avon Guildhall is a municipal building in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. It is a Grade I listed building.History
The building, which is timber-framed with plaster infill, was built in around 1417. It was established as a meeting place for the Guild of the Holy Cross, a religious group of merchants in the town. It became the main offices of Stratford Borough Council in 1553 and was used by the King's New School from 1560. Sir William Shakespeare attended the school as a child in the early 1570s. The guildhall was restored, at a cost on £1.8 million, in 2016.
