Stay Inside

Stay Inside is an American post-hardcore band based in Brooklyn, New York. The band consists of Bryn Nieboer on vocals and bass, Chris Johns on guitar and backing vocals, Chris Lawless on guitar and backing vocals, and Vishnu Anantha on drums.

History

The band formed in 2016 and initially consisted of Bartees Cox, Jr., Chris Johns, Vishnu Anantha, and Bryn Nieboer who formed a band together in Brooklyn, all of whom were transplants. Cox was from Yukon, Oklahoma, Johns from Hockessin, Delaware, Anatha from Wayne, Pennsylvania, and Nieboer from Los Angeles. Later on Cox left the band and was replaced by Chris Lawless.
The band released four extended plays ahead of the debut album. Their debut EP, As You Were came out in April 2017. A year later, their second EP The Sea Engulfs Us and the Light Goes Out, was released. After their first two EPs, the band released two split EPs: Balancing Acts, a split EP with Good Looking Friends, and The Final Girl, a split EP that was released in conjunction with Dad Thighs and Great Weights.
On April 10, 2020 the band's debut studio album, Viewing was released. Many critics and commentators pointed to the irony of the band's namesake and the ongoing quarantines imposed as the album was released during the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, the album was met with positive critical reception.
