Sophie Pacini


Sophie Pacini is a German-Italian pianist, whose core repertoire covers the First Viennese School and the Romantic Music of the 19th century.

Life and professional career

After winning several competitions the media took notice of Pacini. In October 2007 she performed in the ZDF television programme Klassik-Kids. The Austrian radio station Ö1 portrayed her in 2009 and 2010. BR-Klassik in the year 2011. In February 2012 her first CD with piano concertos by Schumann and Mozart was released by the label Onyx Classics. The recording was made possible through the "Prix Groupe Edmond de Rothschild" of the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad". In 2011 she was awarded "Deutschlandfunk's Förderpreis at the Musikfest Bremen as "one of her generation's most talented artists". comprising a studio production as artist in residence at the "Deutschlandfunk" in Cologne. This recording - her first recital CD - was released by the label Avi Music in November 2012 featuring Schumann's Carnaval op.9, Intermezzi op.4 and Liszt's Sonata in B minor. In August 2014 was released her new CD again by the label CAvi-music Cologne in collaboration with "Deutschlandfunk" exclusively featuring works by Chopin.
Sophie Pacini's international concert appearances lead her as far as Japan to the Suntory Hall. In 2010 she became friendly with Martha Argerich who invited her to perform at the "Progetto Martha Argerich" in Lugano 2011. In 2012 she performed at the "Klavierfestival Ruhr" and the "Schwetzinger Festspiele" for the first time and made her solo debut in the Munich Concert Hall "Herkulessaal" and also in the "Dortmund Konzerthaus". In December 2012 she was invited by Rolando Villazón to be a guest on the ZDF/ARTE television show "Stars von Morgen". In January 2013 she was invited to the "NDR Podium der Jungen". Further, this year she has been invited to perform by the Dresden Philaharmonic under the baton of Michael Sanderling and the Weilburger Schlosskonzerte with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz under the baton of Karl-Heinz Steffens. Additionally, she has been invited as the only emerging pianist with the Camerata Salzburg under the baton of Ben Gernon to the "Salzburger Festspiele".
During the renowned “Neue Namen” and “Jeunes” concert series Sophie Pacini made her solo debut in autumn 2013 both in Berlin and in Zurich’s Tonhalle
The Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund has sponsored Sophie Pacini since 2013.
Sophie Pacini was named as an ECHO Klassik Newcomer of the Year for 2015.

Repertoire

Her repertoire mainly comprises the First Viennese School and the Romantic Music of the 19th century. In particular works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Frédéric Chopin, Johannes Brahms and virtuoso pieces by Franz Liszt form the programme of her current performances.
