Sir John Jackson, 1st Baronet was a British politician and businessman.

Biography

Early life

John Jackson was born on 30 December 1763 in Kingston, Jamaica. His father was John Jackson and his mother, Anna Coverley.

Career

He served as the Member of Parliament for Dover from 1806 to 1820. He also served on the Board of Directors of the East India Company.
On 22 May 1815, he was created a baronet in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom, of Arlsey in the County of Bedford.

Personal life

He married Charlotte Spry Gorham, the daughter of General Joseph Goreham and Ann Spry. They resided at Bellmoore House in Hampstead, London. They had six children:
He died on 17 May 1820. After his death, his baronetcy was passed on to his first son, Keith Alexander Jackson, who became the 2nd Jackson Baronet of Arlsey.
