Silver Star (roller coaster)

Silver Star is a steel roller coaster located at Europa-Park, a theme park in Rust, Germany. The coaster has a height of and a drop of 67 meters, placing it in the hyper coaster category. Although it is one of Bolliger & Mabillard's tallest coasters, it was surpassed as the tallest in Europe by at PortAventura Park in 2012. Silver Star has 3 trains which seat 36 people each, giving an hourly capacity of 1,750 passengers. This hypercoaster is situated in the French area of Europa Park and is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz.

The ride

Silver Star features no inversions, but many camelback hills:
  1. After the first drop, the train travels leftwards and up onto the first camel back, and then a second.
  2. The train performs a 180 degree return in a Horseshoe-element.
  3. The train then continues onto another camel back followed by a mid-course brake segment.
  4. A 270 degree upwards turn brings the train back under the lift hill and onto one last camel back.
  5. An S-bend brings the train to the on-ride photo and final brake run.
Nearly every camel back is fitted with trim brakes to regulate the train's speed. The original friction-brake trims made the ride uncomfortable for some riders, however these have been refitted with magnetic trims.
