Shivala Teja Singh temple
Shawala Teja Singh temple is a 1000 years old Hindu temple in Sialkot a famous city of Punjab province of Pakistan.
The temple was closed and destroyed after the division of Subcontinent in 1947.After the Partition, the idols of Lord Shiva installed at the ancient temple had disappeared gradually as they had been vandalised several times, especially post-Babri Masjid demolition.
Now the local Hindu leaders have urged the Pakistan government to ensure the early repairing of the crumbling building of Shawala Teja Singh templeAfter 72 years Prime Minister Imran Khan, reopened the temple to the Hindus.Pakistan government’s Evacuee Trust Property Board has chalked out a plan for the renovation and preservation of the ‘shivala’ with the help of Lahore-based Sir Ganga Ram Heritage Foundation.In 2019,the Pakistan government has renovated and formally handed over the centuries-old Shawala Teja Singh Temple to the Pakistan Hindu Council for facilitating pilgrim visits and other rituals.
