. It was mapped from air

taken by the
Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition
, 1956–57, and named by
United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee
for
Johann Sölch
, an
Austrian
glacial
geologist and
glaciologist
.
