Ryan White (filmmaker)
Ryan White is an American documentary producer and director best known for his work on Netflix, including the series The Keepers and the HBO movie The Case Against 8.
Ryan was nominated for a Primetime Emmy award and won a director award at the Sundance Film Festival for his work on The Case Against 8.
In 2016, Ryan directed the EPIX documentary Serena which followed tennis star Serena Williams during her 2015 tennis tour.
Ryan also directed Good Ol’ Freda, which tells the story of the Beatles’ longtime secretary Freda Kelly, and Pelada, a journey around the world through the lens of pick-up soccer. Ryan White graduated from Duke with a certificate from the Center for Documentary Studies.
In June 2020, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the first LGBTQ Pride parade, Queerty named him among the fifty heroes “leading the nation toward equality, acceptance, and dignity for all people”.
