Roposo


Roposo, is an Indian video-sharing social networking service platform, owned by Glance Digital Experience Pvt. Ltd having its registered office at Bengaluru, India. It is a platform where people express visually with homemade videos and photos. Catering to users aged between 15 and 35 years, the app offers a TV-like browsing experience with user-generated content on its channels. Users can also use editing tools on the platform and upload their content..
With 8.5 crore users, Roposo provides a space where users can share posts related to different topics like food, comedy, music, poetry, fashion and travel. The App is available on both Android and iOS platforms. The App is available in 10 Indian languages and has over 25 channels. The App is targetted on the user base between the age of 13-35 years.
In November 2019, the App was acquired by InMobi's Glance. The international recognition-The app was featured in the 2016 edition of the app for Indian Independence day.
MyGovIndia is also a user on the app. The account has over 10 lac followers.
According to the founders’ people have earned up to 1 crore INR from the app. The company has stated that there is no bias towards any type of creator. Both small and big creators have equal chances.

History

Established in July 2014, under the aegis of Relevant E-solutions Pvt. Ltd., Roposo is the brainchild of three IIT Delhi alumni – Mayank Bhangadia, Avinash Saxena and Kaushal Shubhank. Roposo was positioned initially as a fashion social network and later introduced its version 2.0, Roposo - TV by the People. The company is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
In November 2019, Roposo was acquired by InMobi's Glance Digital Experience Pvt. Ltd..
When the Chinese-owned video-sharing app Tiktok was banned on 30 June, 2020, the app saw a huge spike in users with several TikTok users registering on Roposo.

Technology

The open platform has some features such as a TV-like browsing, different channels, a chat feature that lets buyers and sellers converse directly through the platform, and creation tools such as an option to add voice-over, music and GIF stickers for videos and photos. Apple, an American multinational technology company, featured Roposo in their Indian Independence Day special edition in August 2016.
