Robert McGovern (businessman)


Robert McGovern is an American businessperson and founder of CareerBuilder.
McGovern founded CareerBuilder in 1995 as NetStart Inc. The company went public in 1999 and went private again in 2000 when it was bought for $250 million. McGovern served as the company's CEO until leaving in 2002.
In 2004, McGovern founded a second online job site, Jobfox.
In June 2009, he was in a car accident and suffered severe brain injury. Diagnostic tests initially predicted he would remain in a vegetative state, but he recovered and returned to Jobfox in March 2010.
In 2013, McGovern launched Cobrain, a software that made merchandise recommendations based on users' shopping history.
In 2016, the Cobrain name changed to PreciseTarget. In July 2019, PreciseTarget launched its first retail data products.
