Red Tank, Panama
Red Tank was a town in the Panama Canal Zone, having been abandoned during the early 1950s, after which vegetation was allowed to overgrow the site. The beginnings of Red Tank are hazy. A 1904 timetable for the Panama Railroad shows a stop called "Pedro Miguel Tank", half a mile south of Pedro Miguel proper. Old residents recalled the presence of a big water tank painted with red lead on a hill behind what later became the town. From this came the name of Red Tank, a local-rate community. The last of these residents were moved out to La Boca in November 1953.
