Rapallo Conference
The
Rapallo
Conference
was convened by the
Allied powers of World War I
, on the
fifth
of
November 1917
in Rapallo,
Italy
, following their
defeat
by
Germany
at the
Battle of Caporetto
.
The
conference
resolved
to form a
Supreme War Council
at
Versailles
to
co-ordinate
allied
plans
and
actions
.
The Council
eventually led to the appointment of
Ferdinand Foch
as
generalissimo
of the
allied powers
.
