History

The first church in Ranheim was built in 1898, but that one burned down on 25–26 January 1932 after being hit by lightning. A new church was built in 1933 that was consecrated on 20 April 1933 by the Bishop Johan Nicolai Støren. The new church sits about northeast of the site of the old church. The white, stone church was built in a long church style using designs by the architect Roar Tønseth.
