Pirate's Booty

Pirate's Booty is a puffed rice and corn snack food developed and produced by commodities trader Robert Ehrlich since 1987. B&G Foods acquired Robert's American Gourmet Food in June 2013.
Ehrilch would often watch people purchasing cheese puffs in a local supermarket. The snack, Ehrlich explained, did not have "any real cheese in them... most of the ingredients you couldn't even pronounce." Ehrlich then went on to found a snack brand called Vegan Rob's, which makes cheese puffs with no cheese in them.
The snack is made with corn meal, rice and cheddar cheese.
Pirate Brands also has a number of other similar snack products, including baked, gluten free milled corn snacks called Smart Puffs, and crunchy corn sticks called Original Tings.
Pirate Brands is now owned and operated by Amplify Snack Brands, a Hershey company.
In 2012, Michael Ian Black and Tom Cavanagh featured Pirate's Booty on episode 47 of their snack podcast Mike and Tom Eat Snacks. On a scale of 1-10, both Mike and Tom rated the original Aged White Cheddar Pirate's Booty a 7.5. The Veggie Pirate's Booty fared less well: Mike rated it a 1.5, and Tom a 1.

Product recall

On June 29, 2007, Robert's American Gourmet recalled their Veggie Booty brand snack food due to salmonella contamination.
They also recalled other snacks for the same reasons.
