Peter Roth (judge)


Sir Peter Marcel Roth, styled The Hon. Mr Justice Roth, is a judge of the High Court of England and Wales.
Educated at St Paul's School, London, he read history at New College, Oxford and obtained his LLM from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1977.
He was a member of Monckton Chambers, a well-established barristers' chambers specialising in commercial and civil law located at Gray's Inn founded by Walter Monckton, 1st Viscount Monckton of Brenchley. He was called to the bar at Middle Temple in 1977 and made a bencher there in 2008. He was made a QC in 1997, deputy judge of the High Court from 2008-2009, and judge of the High Court of Justice since 2009. In 2013 he was appointed President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
He was a Visiting Professor at King's College London from 2003 to 2009.
