Pete Festersen


Pete Festersen is a member of the Omaha, Nebraska, city council and a former 2014 congressional candidate. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

Early life and education

Festersen was born and raised in Omaha. He attended Omaha Central High School and Connecticut College. He earned an MPA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
He and his wife Paige have two children.

Career

Festersen has worked for the Peter Kiewit Foundation, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and Alegent Health. He has also served as Chairman of the Omaha Planning Board for three years and on community boards including the Omaha Children's Museum and the Benson-Ames Alliance.
Festersen has his own small business, Strategic Business Development LLC. He served as a top aide to Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey.
Festersen was elected to the Omaha City Council in 2009. He served as City Council president from 2013 to 2015.

2014 U.S. House campaign

Festersen announced on October 13, 2013 that he was running for the seat held by Republican Lee Terry in Nebraska's 2nd congressional district. Festersen decided to run after the United States federal government shutdown of 2013. Festersen announced he was withdrawing from the race on December 9, 2013.
