Optimax

Optimax is a laser eye treatment specialist based in Birmingham, England. Optimax was established as one of the first private clinics to offer laser eye surgery.
Laser eye surgery in the UK is dominated by three main companies Optical Express, Ultralase and Optimax which, in total, account for approximately 6% of clinics in the UK.

History

Optimax was founded by Russell Ambrose in 1991 and he became the very first patient to receive treatment at Optimax. Eleven years later, in 2002, Optimax performed their 100,000th laser eye surgery procedure.
Nowadays, Optimax operates optical care clinics throughout the UK and has used laser eye surgery to correct the minor visual impairments of around 350,000 patients.
Optimax were the first company to introduce Femtosecond laser, IntraLASIK and Schwind lasers.
In April 2014 a complaint by Optical Express that the company had funded a protest website critical of Optical Express was dismissed by Nominet.
