Site of Special Scientific Interest
on the
northern
outskirts
of
Lewes
in
East Sussex
.
Ditches
in these
alluvial
marshes have large
breeding
populations
of amphibian
species
such as common
toads
,
smooth newts
,
palmate
newts
and
common frogs
. The
ditches
also support the
hairy dragonfly
and many
beetles
, including Britain's
largest species
, the
rare
great silver beetle
.
