Nurlan Nogaev


Nurlan Asqaryly Nogaev is Kazakh statesman, who served as 6th akim of West Kazakhstan Region from 2012 to 2016, 8th akim of Atyrau Region from 2016 to 2019 and is currently serving as Minister of Energy.

Biography

Born in the city of Oktyabrsk, Nogaev began his career as an electrician at the Kandagach station in his hometown.
From 1993 to 1995, he was a Senior Expert in Petroleum Products, Head of Division, General Director of Gili-Pasker LLP in Moscow.
From 1995 to 1996, Nogaev was a Deputy General Director of the small enterprise Otrar Ltd in Almaty.
From 1996 to 2006, he was a Marketing Engineer, Head of the Department of Marketing, Sales of Oil and Petroleum Products, and a General Director of Kazakhturkmunai LLP. From February to August 2006, Nogaev was Executive Director of JSC National Company KazMunayGas.
From August 2006, he worked as the Director of the Oil Industry Department of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
In September 2007, Nogaev became a deputy akim of the West Kazakhstan Region, by being in charge of economic, financial and oil and gas sectors.
On 20 January 2012, he was appointed as the akim of the West Kazakhstan Region, and then as the akim of the Atyrau Region on 26 March 2016.
On 18 December 2019, Nogaev was appointed as the Minister of Energy.
