. It was
discovered
in
December 1934
by the
Byrd Antarctic Expedition
geological
party
under
Quin Blackburn
, and named by Richard E.
Byrd
for
Captain
Alan Innes-Taylor
who served with the
expedition
as
chief
of trail
operations
.
