Moscow School for the Social and Economic Sciences
The Moscow School for the Social and Economic Sciences is a private, not-for-profit, postgraduate university in Moscow. It was founded in 1995 by Professor Teodor Shanin, with funding from The Open Society Institute, MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, the Department of Education of the Russian Federation and others. Many of the master's degrees offered by the Moscow School are validated by the University of Manchester. In recent years the university has offered a limited range of undergraduate courses.
On 20 June 2018 the Russian Federal Education and Science Supervision Agency revoked the accreditation of the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences. The decision was widely criticised. The School noted that, "The withdrawal of accreditation does not mean revoking the license to conduct education", and vowed to continue its work.
