Mohamad Sheriff Osman
Sheriff Haji Mohamad bin Osman was the first Chief Minister of Kedah. Sheriff was appointed as the Menteri Besar of Kedah in 1948 and served until 1954. The Menteri Besar is appointed by the Sultan of Kedah, from the State Legislative Assembly. As the Menteri Besar of Kedah, he was the head of the executive branch of the government in the Malaysian state of Kedah.
He was born in Cross River, Alor Star, and received his education in Penang Free School, a school of English. At the beginning of his involvement in administration, the Sheriff was appointed to key positions in the Kedah state government, including:
He died on 27 September 1962 at the age of 72 and was buried in the cemetery Alor Akar missile or Islamic Cemetery Al-Ghufran.
