Moetai Brotherson


Moetai Charles Brotherson is a French politician serving as the member of the National Assembly for the 3rd constituency of French Polynesia since 2017. He has been Vice President of Tavini Huiraatira since 2017. Brotherson was also elected to the Assembly of French Polynesia during the 2018 French Polynesian legislative election, as a member for the Windward Islands.

Biography

Early career

A computer engineer by occupation, Brotherson served as chief of staff to Vice President of French Polynesia Antony Géros from 2011 to 2013.

Political involvement

Brotherson has been a municipal councillor of Faaa since the 2008 elections. In the 2017 legislative election, he defeated Patrick Howell, candidate of Tapura Huiraatira in French Polynesia's 3rd constituency, in the second round with 52 % of the vote. He succeeded Jean-Paul Tuaiva. As a parliamentarian, he became a member of the Democratic and Republican Left group.
In the 2018 French Polynesian legislative election, he was subsequently elected to the Assembly of French Polynesia for the Windward Islands.
