Martin County Area Technology Center was opened in 1967 and is operated by Kentucky Tech. The current principal of the facility is Chad Williams. The school focuses on vocational trades, nursing, IT, carpentry, electricity, and office technology.. The New Martin County Area Technology Center Building opened in 2020. It is located at the site of the current Martin County High School..
They are currently 6 teachers in the facility, along with 1 custodian, 1 administrative assistant and the principal. Dwayne Pack teaches auto mechanics. Johnnie Dials, who taught electricity at the school, resigned in late 2018. Micheal Jude, the teacher of the carpentry course at the school, passed away on December 14, 2018. Beginning the 2019–2020 school year, the carpentry program will be retired. With the carpentry program retired. The Board of Education decided to move The Martin County Alternative School to be housed in the classroom that was used by carpentry.
