Makaji Meghpar was founded by Makanji Jadeja in 1754 as the capital of the chiefdom. Until independence, this village was ruled under Nawanagar State.

Meghpar is the administrative headquarter of the Makaji Meghpar Rural Complex including Shivnagar, Mangalpur and Paru faubourgs.
