Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University


Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, formerly Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute, is a public law school and a National Law University located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. As one of the Autonomous law schools in India, it is regarded as a premier law school in country. It was established in 2005, and since then, has been providing undergraduate and post-graduate legal education. It has been ranked among the top law institutes in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework of the Ministry of Human Resource Development in recent years. The University is fully funded by the state government.

Admission

is a centralised test for admission to prominent National Law Universities in India. All admissions in RMLNLU, for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs are made on the basis of performance in the CLAT exam. The opening rank for CLAT 2018 for Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University was AIR 47. Although the institute does not have recognition for being the best institute out there for corporate placements but is the preferred choice for candidates wanting to pursue a career in litigation, civil services or judicial services owing to the sheer amount of creative freedom compared to other NLUs.

Life At RMLNLU

While other NLUs may have a trimester system, RMLNLU has two end-semester exams in an academic year thereby giving students considerable freedom to develop their own soft skills, legal knowledge or research papers. The college has a lush green 42 acres campus and while even the top NLUs like NALSAR, Hyderabad and NLIU, Bhopal are located on the outskirts of the city and NLS, Bangalore being 70 km from KempeGowda Airport, RMLNLU is located in the heart of the city just 15 minutes from Railway Station, 10 minutes from the bus stand and 10 minutes from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The library in the college is a notch above with centrally air-conditioned two-floored spacious building, 27,000+ books and subscriptions to all major journals. The library also has a state-of-art DigiLab and three conference rooms. The library has subscription to all the major legal databases and journals and books can be shuffled through easily by using the OPAC technology.
Ranking
CLAT - 7th
The University ranks ahead of premier institutes like NLIU, Bhopal and Aligarh Muslim University. The university is on a growth streak and jumped up to 11th position from 14th in 2019. There are a considerable number of researches and patents happening in the institute. This also makes this university one of the most sought after and one of the most demanded in CLAT Post Graduate.
