Llanfair Caereinion
Llanfair Caereinion is a small town and community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales upon the River Banwy, around 8 miles west of Welshpool.
In 2011 the ward had a population of 11,810. The town is built upon the site of an old Roman fort. Llanfair is most famous for being a terminus of the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. The site of the Battle of Maes Moydog is nearby.
In 1758 the town was almost completely wiped out by the Great Fire which was so intense and devastating it was reported in the London Press.
In 2019 The town Council appointed its first official Town Crier, David Salter. Although it is likely that Llanfair C'n did have a Town Crier centuries ago, no records have yet been discovered.
The village itself had a population of 1,055 according to Nomis.
