List of power stations in Colorado

This is a list of electricity-generating power stations in Colorado, sorted by type and name. In 2017, Colorado had a total summer capacity of 16,017 MW through all of its power plants. Colorado's energy mix in 2018 was 49% coal, 32% natural gas, 2% hydroelectric and 17% renewables. While coal is being replaced with natural gas and renewables in the state's electricity portfolio, Colorado's coal production in 2017 increased for the first time in six years due to increasing foreign demand.
In 2004, Colorado became the first state with a voter-approved renewable portfolio standard. The RPS requires 30% of electricity sold by investor-owned utilities to come from renewable energy sources by 2020, with 3% from distributed generation. The leading source of renewable energy is wind.
