Liberty Safe and Security Products, Inc. is a residential and commercial safe manufacturer located in Payson, Utah, United States.
Company
Founded in 1988, Liberty Safe began operating out of a single storage unit. Over the past 30 years, the company has grown from a small facility to a 205,000 square foot facility in Payson, Utah, and can produce more than 500 safes a day. As of 2018, they claim to have sold over 2 million safes during this first 30 years of operation. Liberty Safe employs over 350 people. Liberty Safe manufactures and markets gun safes, home safes, commercial safes, fire safes and related accessories. Liberty Safe manufactures and sells products having the Liberty Safe, National Security, Centurion and Freedom Security brands. Other private label brands include Cabela's, Remington, and John Deere. The larger capacity safes are made in their Payson, Utah USA facility, while some of the more compact safes are made in China. Liberty Safes are tested by Underwriters Laboratories, achieving UL certification and given Residential Security Container certifications by UL. Liberty Safe has developed home safe technology, including its patent-pending military-style locking bar technology. Rather than relying on steel round pins, Liberty Safe developed these locking bars to reduce the potential weak point round pins have where they’re attached to a locking bar using rivets. These rivet points can be sometimes be pried open by thieves. Liberty’s locking bars are one solid piece of heavy-duty steel, therefore increasing strength and durability. Liberty has created a series of “Torture Tests,” which apply pressure, water, fire, and even explosives to prove the durability of its products. Liberty Safe bases its fire testing on standards developed by the U.S. Department of CommerceNational Institute of Standards and Technology. Liberty Safe fire testing includes certifying products for a high degree of heat over a long period of time. Other brands may certify up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, but testing begins at a cooler temperature, only reaching a high degree of heat for a few minutes at the end of testing. In contrast, Liberty ensures safes are certified for both time and heat, mimicking the conditions of a true disaster more closely. Liberty Safe primarily designs and manufactures gun, home, fire and commercial safes. Not only does the company manufacture under the Liberty Safe name, but also the National Security, Fatboy, and Colt Brands. Working with brands like Cabela’s and John Deere, Liberty has also licensed its cutting-edge technology for private labels. Liberty Safe proudly manufactures all of its full-sized safes in the United States*, while some compact safes are manufactured in China or Korea. The company creates safes that bear the Underwriter’s Laboratory certification for Residential Security Containers. In July of 2018, Liberty Safe was recognized by the White House and invited to its “Made in America” event. CEO and President Steve Allred, along with the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Justin Buck, both attended. The two showcased Liberty’s Presidential 50, the company’s top-of-the-line safe. Liberty Safe actively develops new technology in the home and commercial security sector and has invested over $30 million in safe tech. Some notable developments include heat-expanding fire seals, double relocking features, slip-clutch handles, fire testing, and robotic welding booths. The high-tech facility in Payson, Utah is known throughout the industry for being one of the foremost safe development facilities in the United States.
