The median age was 50.9 years. 16.7% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 19.2% were from 25 to 44; 31.4% were from 45 to 64; and 26.5% were 65 or older. Of the 232 households 24.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.8% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.7% were non-families. 39.7% of households were one person and 19.0% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.23 and the average family size was 3.06. The age distribution was 27.4% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% 65 or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.9 males. The median household income was $23,472 and the median family income was $38,750. Males had a median income of $38,125 versus $20,313 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,242.
