Laurent Chambon


Laurent Chambon is a French sociologist and politicologist living in Amsterdam since 1998. Specialist of the question of minorities in politics, he has been elected in the borough of Amsterdam Oud-Zuid for the Dutch Labour Party between March 2006 and May 2010 . He was the only non-Dutch European politician in the Netherlands at the time.
Co-founder of the minority-related website , he is quite visible, as sociologist and as former politician, in the French media to talk about the Netherlands, and in the Dutch media to talk about the French situation. He was correspondant for French-speaking media in the Netherlands.
Doctor in Political sciences, former pupil at the Lycée Lakanal, he is also producer for and musician as Laurent Outang, one half of Laurent & Lewis. After having taught French and Political sciences at the Hyperion Lyceum in Amsterdam, he now teaches at the Gemeentelijk Gymnasium Hilversum. He is member of the antiracist party Bij1 and the antispecist party Party for the Animals and of the AOb and Leraren in actie trade unions.
